According to the Farmers Almanac, this winter will be brutal in Maryland and Northern Virginia. Fortunately, you can turn on the heat inside, but your lawn is stuck outside in the cold* (*please don’t bring your lawn indoors).

To help your turf endure the grueling winter weather, and get a jump start on spring growth, give it the love it needs now with a winter fertilization application! Think of it as a satisfying meal before a long winter slumber, giving your grass the nutrients it needs to feed all season long.

Get The Scoop On Winter Fertilization

As the weather gets colder, your lawn will go into a protective mode against the chilly temperatures, frost, snow, and ice. Your lawn’s grass will grow slower, turn brown and get a little hardier as it prepares for dormancy. Under the soil, it is a different story.

Your lawn’s root system grows and becomes thicker, stronger, and deeper into the soil. The better the root system, the better the chances it will withstand drought, stress, and disease during next year’s summer months. A winter fertilization application assists and strengthens your lawn’s continuously growing root system

Depending on your lawn’s needs, we will use a slow-release liquid fertilizer or a granular application. Both treatments will help strengthen your lawn this fall and help it grow back stronger and greener than ever in the spring!

Please note: Due to Maryland’s Nutrient Management laws, we must apply this treatment by December 1st.
